Drummond Rocks Dahab Festival

DAHAB 1

Jamie Drummond one of our latest additions to the windsurf team is currently out at the Dahab Festival which has got some serious wind right now and he is loving it!

Check his write up below of the first day of the Festival where he tells us all about his victory and awesome form….

The conditions on Day One of the Dahab Watersports Festival were perfect for me. Super flat water and solid 4.7m weather all day long. In the Single Elimination I advanced through 3 heats to make it to the final against Russian sailor Vladimir. He was a really strong opponent and I was a bit nervous going into the final, but I managed to nail some massive moves like a Burner 900, a really high Regular Kono and my trademarked One Handed Ponch. It was a really close final but the big power moves meant I took the win!
Getting in a bit of freesailing before the Double Elimination started I went for a really underpowered One Handed Ponch and managed to tweak my knee really badly. Luckily some guys from the crowd swam straight out to help me in and I was rushed back to the beach to ice the injury and get some painkillers down me! Winning the SIngle Elimination meant I only had to win one heat to win the Double too, so I headed back out to test my knee and see if I could sail. It wasn’t 100%, but I was comfortable enough to sail. Feeling a bit more confident after beating my opponent once already, I had a really good heat and took the overall victory on Day One. The wind picked up loads towards the end, making a bit chilly on the water but my awesome Mystic Crossfire wetsuits kept me super warm all day long!

The competition kicks off again on Thursday, and with a strong forecast it looks set to be my favourite conditions! Fingers crossed my knee will be back to 100% and I can finish the week as I started…”
