Denzil Williams – Owns it once again!

denzil

Denzil killed it again this weekend at the Tenby Regatta, rumour has it he no longer has a trophy room, he has a whole separate house for all his medals! Check out his write up from the event!

I got the message late on the Friday, we are allowed to race again in the Tenby Regatta in deepest south west Wales, Fantastic news but when was it, the next morning with super light winds predicted on xcweather! It was a 550 mile round trip but I decided I would make the effort and drove up 6am on Saturday morning to be greeted by a Force 4 wind that was supposed to drop off but in fact picked up even more.
Armed with my RRD K70 Race board, 11m Ozone Edge Kite and Mystic Force shield harness we ran 3 races back to back not only racing against other Kitesurfers but also the whole fleet of different sailing dinghy’s.
To make it fair on the rest of the fleet the Kitesurfers started 5 minutes after the rest and we also had a different upwind buoy to go around, ours was around 100m further upwind! On average a normal kite race takes between 10 and 15 minutes to complete, these regatta races lasted on average 40 minutes! My legs definitely had a great workout. We were out on the water for just under 4 hours, luckily I was wearing my Mystic Crossfire wetsuit that kept me warm and ready in the cold elements.
I had won the title the year before and so it was my goal to defend that title, luckily I won all 3 races.
The welsh guys did not mind as long as the cup stayed in Celtic hands ;)
