Red Bull Harbour Reach 2017

Tuesday, 28 July 2015 22:17:43 Europe/London

So our favourite event rolled back into town this past weekend, Red Bull Harbour Reach was back!

This is the 5th year the event has been on the calendar and we have been in support with Mystic from the very start, we started off in Lyme Regis and now we were in Liverpool once again for what is quite simply the most extreme and challenging competition wakeboard event of the year.

This year the it was the only Red Bull International wakeboard event, so they pulled out the stops to make it something special. There is nothing standard on this course, all custom made features and all of them extremely gnarly!

25 of the worlds top riders took to the course, including 2 qualifiers, our friend Owen Pick who incredibly is a below the knee amputee and yet is throwing it down on a stage with the world best and North Devon Wake Park rider Jack Constable who has only been on the water just over a year.

The riding was at an incredible level for the full event, one wrong turn can put you in hospital as Scotty Broome found out on the Mystic transfer rail! The final was a hard fight between Dom Hernler and Daniel Grant, two riders who were clearly on top of their game and how Parks Bonifay and the rest of judges split them apart, it must have been super tough!

For us, Dom's style probably just edged it, the grabs he holds quite literally for days, and the unique lines on each obstacles meant that he became champion of Red Bull Harbour Reach, and remains unbeaten in 2015, and hopefully on course to be voted the Rail Rider Of The Year at Expo in a few weeks.

Harbour Reach is an event beyond all others, a course dreamed up by riders in the unique setting of Liverpool's Albert Dock, and we hope that it will be back for 2016, powered by Mystic once again.

Plastic Playground 2015

Tuesday, 28 July 2015 21:55:14 Europe/London

The first of two huge events in the UK this summer was the Plastic Playground competition down at Liquid Leisure. Returning for its second year Plastic Playground had drawn in pretty much all of the biggest names in wakeboarding with its $30k prize fund!

With even more freshly delivered Unit Parktech obstacles Liquid Leisure really does delivery as a plastic playground for the riders, there are not many places in the world packed with so many obstacles offering so many lines to the athletes.

The competition was fierce, with big names struggling and some local young guns showing them how it is done.

For us the Peacock Bros really did stand out, not just making it to the final which is a huge achievement when you read the list of athletes who didnt, BUT they qualfied the easy way, straight out of their heats to the semi finals! No messing about in the LCQs which claimed the scalpes of big names like Lior Sofer and BP.

Liam and Ryan took 8th & 9th, and can be proud to leave the dock as equals to cable legends like Dan Grant, Dom Hernler & Oli Derome as well as walking away with $1000 each! Great job guys!

In the final it was a tense fight for the top with Dom Hernler styling it out, finishing his run with an awesome hit of the quarter pipe, to walk away as champion, with Dan Grant & Julian Cohen joining him on the podium.

Plastic Playgrounds is already booked on the calendar for 2016, keep July 14th - 16th free for another big weekend, with an even bigger prize fund of $40,000 and a newly added ladies category.

Dom Hernler - On Top Of The World!

Tuesday, 28 July 2015 20:54:26 Europe/London

Friend of WSW Mr Dominic Hernler is riding high right now, after coming back from injury late last year he has been pretty much unbeatable in the park. Dom just took back to back park championships, smashing it down at Liquid Leisure at Plastic Playgrounds and then putting another impressive show at Red Bull Harbour Reach to take the win once again. On top of this Mr Hernler just posted a really sick edit, check out our home page to see it, shredding some pretty unique lines behind the winch back in Austria. Take the look at our social media for the rest of the images but here are a few of Dom riding high in the last few weeks.

Ross Williams - Still Got It

Wednesday, 8 July 2015 22:15:32 Europe/London

We were not the only ones who were in the Costa Brava recently, Mr Ross Williams was throwing it down for the UK and Mystic and killed it in the slalom to come 2nd, leaving him 2nd in the overall PWA rankings too, an awesome effort. Great work Ross.

Check out the full write up from our friends at Windsurf Magazine, including a nice little nod to Ross showing the young guns how to get rid of the podium wine in style!
